SIA started flying to New Delhi, India’s capital, in April 1986 with a twice-weekly B747-200 passenger service. Freighter services to the city were launched in October 1993. Today New Delhi is served by thrice-weekly B747-400 freighter services to Europe and the US, and daily B777-300 passenger services, making SIA Cargo one of the top three carriers operating to the city.

Mumbai also serves as a gateway for neighbouring cities like Pune, Goa and Indore from where export commodities are sent by bonded trucks to Mumbai for uplift by air to other destinations.

SIA started its Mumbai service in June 1971 with three weekly B707 flights. Today, Mumbai is served by twice-daily B777 passenger services and twice-weekly B747-400 freighter services.

Important exports include fish, fruits, vegetables, cut flowers, engineering goods, fabrics, finished leather, garments, auto spares, computer spare parts, films, diamonds, jewellery, pharmaceuticals, vaccines and chemicals.
