 On
6 July, SIA Cargo launched a twice-weekly B747-400 freighter service
to Johannesburg, bringing to 37 the number of cities served by SIA
Cargo’s fleet of 14 B747-400 freighters.
The new service provides convenient connections for the movement of
cargo between South Africa and Europe, the US and Asia. Operating
on the Brussels-Johannesburg-Singapore and Dallas-Brussels-Johannesburg-Singapore
routes, the services are timed to connect with the freighter services
from Chicago, Los Angeles, New York and Dallas.
The new full freighter service has added significant cargo capacity
to and from South Africa. Prior to that, cargo capacity was provided
by the bellyhold cargo space on SIA’s daily B777-200 passenger
services to Johannesburg and thrice-weekly services to Cape Town. |
