Singapore Airlines Cargo thanks the publishers and subscribers of Cargonews Asia for voting the airline "Best Global Air Cargo Carrier" and "Best Air Cargo Carrier - Asia" at the Asian Freight Industry Awards (AFIA) 2002 in Singapore today.

2002 marks the ninth consecutive year that Singapore Airlines Cargo has been awarded both "Best Global Air Cargo Carrier" and "Best Air Cargo Carrier - Asia" at AFIA - but the first time since it became an all-cargo airline in its own right in July 2001.

Accepting the awards, Singapore Airlines Cargo Senior Vice President - Sales and Marketing, Sudheer Raghavan said "As a young company with longstanding traditions, we're honoured to be recognized through such a democratic process; after all, it will always be the opinion of our customers that matters most. Our goal now must be to set higher standards for ourselves each and every year."

Singapore Airlines Cargo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, operates to more than 70 cities in 36 countries across 5 continents, using a fleet of 11 dedicated B747-400 freighters, and the bellyhold capacity of Singapore Airlines' fleet of 92 widebodied passenger aircraft.
