Singapore Airlines Cargo (SIA Cargo), the fully owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, has taken
delivery of another new Boeing 747-400 Mega Ark Freighter, bringing its operating fleet to fourteen
aircraft of the type. This will enable the airline to add more services to its India and China operations
from 26 th September 2004.
A third Singapore-Xiamen-Nanjing-Los Angeles service will
be added to the current two times weekly frequency. Total
direct China-US frequency will be six times weekly with the
additional service, with three Singapore-Xiamen-Nanjing-Chicago
services launched earlier. Freighter operations to Shanghai
(Pudong) remain at four times weekly.
With the additional China-Los Angeles service, the US West
Coast hub will be served ten times weekly from Singapore.
Direct Los Angeles-Brussels services will also be increased
from the current two times weekly to three times weekly.
Also from the 26 September 2004, frequency on the Singapore-Bangalore-Amsterdam
route will be increased to three times weekly from the current
two times weekly. A new weekly Singapore-Chennai-Brussels
service will also be introduced.
From the start of the Northern Winter season at the end of
October, a new Singapore-New Delhi-Brussels service will be
introduced. Total frequency from India to Europe direct will
then be ten times weekly.
With the additional services to India, the current weekly
Singapore-Bangalore-Chennai-Singapore circular rotation will
be replaced with two weekly Bangalore-Singapore and two weekly
Chennai-Singapore services as part of returning services from
the US and Europe. These services are in addition to the current
two times weekly Mumbai-Singapore and weekly Kolkata-Singapore
freighter services. Total India-Singapore freighter frequency
will be seven times weekly.
Also from the start of the Northern Winter season, services
to Colombo will be increased to three times weekly from the
current weekly frequency. All flights operate only eastbound
direct to Singapore and are part of returning services from
the US and Europe.
SIA Cargo operates to 75 cities in 38 countries. SIA Cargo
markets the entire bellyhold cargo capacity on SIA passenger
flights and is a member of the WOW alliance.
