Singapore Airlines Cargo, the fully owned subsidiary of Singapore
Airlines, has been awarded Cargo 2000 phase one accreditation
on routes between Singapore and Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles,
Melbourne and Tokyo. The next objective is for the airline
to achieve phase one accreditation across the Cargo 2000 network
plan. SIA Cargo joined Cargo 2000 in May 2004.
Cargo 2000 is a quality management system adopted by many
of the world's leading airlines and freight forwarders. Customers
who use Cargo 2000 forwarders can now be assured that shipments
carried by Singapore Airlines Cargo will be handled and tracked
within very strict timelines from the moment they are accepted
at origin airport to delivery at destination airport. The
intended improvement in timelines aims to ensure further improvements
in customer satisfaction levels with the airline.
"Cargo 2000 provides a common platform of service quality
and standards between airline and forwarder. The common platform
is vital in driving efficiencies and improvements for all
participants in the supply chain and I'm delighted that SIA
Cargo has been awarded its Certificate of Approval."
said Mr Hwang Teng Aun, President of Singapore Airlines Cargo.
Singapore Airlines Cargo currently operates on a global network
that extends to 75 cities in 38 countries. In addition to
the fourteen "Mega Ark" Boeing 747-400 Freighters
currently in service, two further aircraft of this type are
due for delivery by the end of 2005 and deliveries of three
Boeing 747-400 passenger to freighter conversions will take
place between 2007 and 2009. SIA Cargo markets the entire
cargo capacity of the SIA passenger aircraft fleet on its
worldwide network. SIA Cargo is a member of the WOW alliance.
