On 21 May 2006, Singapore Airlines Cargo will launch new freighter services to Tianjin in China and onward to destinations in the USA. Promoted by Central Chinese authorities as the airfreight hub of Northern China, Tianjin is home to many multinational corporations and sits just 160 kilometres southeast of Beijing.
These twice-weekly China services will route Singapore - Nanjing - Tianjin - Anchorage - Los Angeles - Shanghai - Singapore departing every Thursday and Sunday. The introduction of the new services to Tianjin brings the weekly frequency of freighter services from Singapore to Los Angeles up to twelve, whilst the frequency of services from Nanjing to the USA increases to eight per week.
"With this new service, Singapore Airlines Cargo is now able to connect another manufacturing hub in China with the major consumer markets of the US. We are confident that our twice weekly service will offer customers in China and the US more flexibility and convenience in making their business decisions and facilitate export growth in trade", said Mr Hwang Teng Aun, President of Singapore Airlines Cargo.
Singapore Airlines Cargo, a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines, currently operates on a global network that extends to 70 cities in 36 countries. SIA Cargo markets the entire cargo capacity of the SIA passenger aircraft fleet on its worldwide network. SIA Cargo is a member of the WOW alliance and Cargo 2000.
