Joint press statement by Lufthansa
Cargo, SAS Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, and Japan Airlines
Cargo
Tokyo / Frankfurt / Copenhagen / Singapore,
September 18, 2002 - From October 28, 2002, customers of Lufthansa
Cargo and Singapore Airlines Cargo will be able to book and
ship via the alliance's new "Large and Heavy Express" service,
the latest product to carry the partners' harmonized promise.
The new, harmonized "Large and Heavy
Express" products to be marketed under the familiar brand
names of "td.X" by Lufthansa Cargo and "Timerider" by Singapore
Airlines Cargo will come on stream with effect from October
28, 2002.
The partners will be offering innovative,
tailor-made solutions for large and heavy shipments which
will fit seamlessly into the network operated by the alliance
partners. SAS Cargo has not yet launched a specific large
and heavy express product, nevertheless, the SAS Cargo network
will be open to accommodate its partners' "td.X" and "Timerider"
products.
Just like the existing harmonized Premium
Express and General Cargo products, "td.X" and "Timerider"
will adhere to "time-definite" criteria: shipments will be
transported within a clearly defined time frame and made available
at fixed times. The partners guarantee that both products
will benefit from seamless transfers and continuous online
tracking via the carriers' individual web sites.
In addition to the promise of consistently
high quality, Lufthansa Cargo and Singapore Airlines Cargo
offer uniform capacity and performance guarantees for the
"td.X" and "Timerider". If bookings are made 24 hours in advance
of the published "Latest Acceptance Time" (LAT) for "Large
and Heavy Express" products, capacity is guaranteed for shipments
of up to one tonne on freighter flights, and up to 250 kilograms
on passenger flights. If the shipment is not available at
its point of destination at the promised "Time of Availability"
(ToA), the customer will receive a 100 percent refund of the
paid net weight charge.
Lufthansa Cargo, SAS Cargo and Singapore
Airlines Cargo offered their first joint product in October
2001, with the harmonization of "td.Flash", "SAS Priority"
and "Swiftrider" into a Premium Express product. These "time-definite"
services are available across the entire network. Although
the three products still retain their established brand names,
they have acquired common key features. No matter which partner
carries the shipment via the alliance's worldwide express
network, the customer can rely on a uniform product promise
and uniform service guarantees.
Since April 1 this year the WOW partners
have also harmonized their General Cargo products. The General
Cargo products offered by SAS Cargo and Singapore Airlines
Cargo and Lufthansa Cargo's "td.Pro" are also "time-definite",
and can be booked anywhere within the combined network.
Lufthansa Cargo, SAS Cargo and Singapore
Airlines Cargo laid the foundation for WOW - under the original
project name of "New Global Cargo" - on April 26, 2000, in
Kronberg near Frankfurt. Today the freight alliance has a
joint fleet of 43 freighters, as well as the bellyhold capacity
of more than 760 passenger planes, many of them large jets.
Together Lufthansa Cargo, Singapore Airlines Cargo, SAS Cargo
and new partner JAL Cargo offer a unique network of destinations,
linking the principal centers of trade worldwide.
