SINGAPORE AIRLINES CARGO ADDS NEW FREIGHTER DESTINATIONS

Singapore Airlines Cargo is extending its global network
of Boeing 747-400 Mega Ark Freighter services to two new destinations.
Freighter services to the newly opened Central Japan International
Airport (CENTRAIR) near Nagoya will commence on 2nd March
2005 and Istanbul in Turkey on 29th March.
"Singapore Airlines Cargo is always looking to match
the demands of the global market and we are delighted to introduce
the two new destinations" said Mr Hwang Teng Aun, President
of Singapore Airlines Cargo.
The new freighter service to CENTRAIR will operate twice
weekly, making it the third SIA Cargo freighter destination
in Japan after Tokyo and Osaka. Additional belly hold capacity
is provided through the Singapore Airlines seven weekly B777
passenger services between Singapore and Nagoya. The city
is home to many of Japan's largest and best known companies.
Its central location also makes it a convenient gateway for
airfreight to other parts of Japan.
Istanbul will be introduced as an additional stop on the
existing Singapore - Kuwait - Amsterdam route to provide twice
weekly service to this dynamic city that bridges Europe and
Asia. The city is a major export centre for textiles, clothing,
fabrics and carpets, whilst import flows are concentrated
in mechanical/electrical machinery, vehicle parts, organic
chemicals and plastics. Singapore Airlines also operates four
weekly B777 services between Singapore and Istanbul.
Singapore Airlines Cargo currently operates a fleet of fourteen
Boeing 747-400 Mega Ark Freighters on a global network that
extends to 70 cities in 36 countries. A further two aircraft
of this type are due for delivery in September and December
2005. SIA Cargo also markets the entire cargo capacity of
the SIA passenger aircraft fleet on its worldwide network.
SIA Cargo is a member of the WOW alliance and Cargo 2000.
